Jacquard stitch consists of knitting in stockinette stitch, changing color to form the design shown on a grid.
Each square on the grid represents a stitch and a row. The grid is accompanied by a key that indicates the color correspondence.
The chart should be read starting from the bottom, from right to left for each row on the right side of the work, from left to right for each row on the wrong side.

KNITTED JACQUARD
Depending on the importance of the drawing to be reproduced, different techniques are used.

When the patterns are small and close together, let the non-working thread run behind the work.
Do not pull this thread too tight so as not to tighten the knitting.

When the patterns are far apart or wide, follow the yarn that is not working behind the work, securing it with the one that is being knitted.
Take the yarn to be followed with your left hand, then knit a stitch by passing the right needle under this yarn; be careful not to knit the latter.
Repeat this operation every two stitches.

When the patterns are very large or the colors numerous, do not follow the thread behind the work, but for each motif, use small balls. This technique is calledthe intarsia jacquard stitch.
Whenever you change color, make sure to cross the threads to avoid holes in the knitting. There is also aembroidered jacquard stitch.
